This is Brandenburch

Brandenburch has specialised in processing vegetable raw materials into extrudates and flakes for more than 40 years. The end product – in the form of pellets, dried feed, or flakes – goes straight to the client and never to the consumer. That is where our buyers come in. Be that under our own brand name or anonymously, a Brandenburch end product is always safe. The client packages and supplies the plant-based animal feed to the market – entirely according to their own concept.

Heaps of experience

Brandenburch has a fully certified production and design process, which we uphold with our team of professionals. Who, drawing on heaps of experience, design, field-test, produce, package, and deliver the best plant-based animal feed. And we do that well. With a recognised GMP+ certificate Brandenburgh’s production process meets the highest industry standards.

The basis is just the beginning

Our basic range of extrudates, flakes, and lucerne forms the basis. And that’s just the beginning. At Brandenburch, anything is possible. We develop and produce customised animal feed. Specially designed for any plant-eating animal. Our motivation is to get the most out of plant-based feed, because we wish the animal a healthy and long life. There are virtually no residual flows, as everything goes back into the production process. A minimal waste product is collected by a bio-digester that converts it into green gas. Good for people, animals, and the environment.

We work together with our customers to develop the best nutrition for animals

But we can’t do it alone, so we do it together. With you, our animal feed buyers. Our team is always ready to produce the very best nutrition for plant-eating animals. In large or small batches. From mice to elephants, and from primates to parrots, rodents, or ornamental fish. No animal is too crazy for us, no ingredient unknown. Although we don’t know everything, of course. If we don’t know enough about a raw material, we will be only too happy to look into it with you. We pull out all the stops to achieve the best end product.

From 2500kg to 80000kg

Brandenburch can provide the capacity you require. From 2,500kg to 80,000kg. Our plant-based animal feed is supplied in bags or big-bags. Collection in bulk (bulk tipped) is also possible in some cases. Shelf life is a key factor, which is why carbon dioxide and nitrogen may be added to the packages. This helps keep the feed fresh for longer without using preservatives. We thus contribute to food safety and less food waste. Brandenburch can also produce small batches, making it easier to market a new product. Production can always be scaled up later. Smaller quantities are also convenient if you want to mix your own product with other components.

Appearances count too>

Shape, colour and consistency are important to us. Partly to please the eyes of the consumer. But also because of the animal’s eating habits. Birds or primates, for instance, often look for ripe fruit, which we try to imitate as much as possible in the pellet. Wherever possible, Brandenburch uses natural colourings.

Together we create the best pellets

We like to be flexible. To enable you to market the desired end product. We conduct research in practice. What works and, especially, what doesn’t. While we are very committed, we are also honest. We could never do without our customers, nor would we want to. We would never be able to make the best feed without your expertise on the animal and its specific nutritional needs. That’s how we strengthen each other. Everything starts by sitting down together at the Brandenburch table.

Brandenburch in a nutshell

We get the most out of it

At Brandenburch, we feel it is important that animals live as long and healthy a life as possible. That’s why we use plant-based raw materials at their best, so that more animals benefit. We get the most out of it, literally.

Heart for animals

Animals are often our best friends, so it is very important to keep them healthy. Older animals need a little less fuel and more fibre, while younger animals need highly digestible and energy-rich feed. That is why we look carefully at the composition of the feed together.

A bit more about extruding

Brandenburch extrudes plant-based raw materials into high-quality animal feed. The extrusion process changes the structure of the raw material so that the animal’s digestive enzymes can better penetrate the cells. This allows the animal to digest the food better. We make complete feeds that contain everything for the animal, as well as individual components that are incorporated into a muesli.

Here you will find an overview of our basic range.

Micronising cereal flakes

In addition to three extrusion lines, Brandenburch can also micronise. This makes the raw materials more digestible. Because the cell structure is opened up in this process, the animal can extract more nutrients from the feed. The nutritional value is consequently optimised, improving the animal’s productivity and health.

Lucerne stalks, blocks and flour

A third product supplied by Brandenburch is lucerne, also known as alfalfa. This plant is often artificially dried an incorporated into animal feed because of its rich vitamin and mineral content. Artificially dried lucerne contains a lot of leaf matter. We sieve this out so that only the stalks remain. Horses, goats, and rodents love it. The dried stalks are supplied as is, or we use them as a base for pressed pellets. Nothing is lost during the lucerne process. We grind the sieved leaf dust – full of nutrients – into a flour.

GMP+ certification

Quality and safety are important to us. Brandenburch therefore develops and produces all products according to a GMP+ certified process. This guarantees quality, reliability and traceability in the supply chain. GMP+ requires continuous improvement of our safety and quality management systems so that we are always on the move to optimise our processes.

Feed Design Lab as an extension of knowledge

Never too old to learn from one another

We’re a curious bunch at Brandenburch, always have been. Looking to broaden our knowledge. And our network. Because you can learn from others. As we learn from our customers every day. And vice-versa.

That is why we are partner to Feed Design Lab; the practical research and education centre for innovation & sustainability in our industry, the animal feed sector. Over 100 companies from across the sector, in the Netherlands and abroad, are Feed Design Lab partners and actively participate in the network. They have various techniques in house, for pet food production or laboratory purposes as larger-scale tests. Using the on-site facilities and equipment enables us to develop products for our customers in an accessible way.

Feed Design Lab has three main activities: renting out its test plant, providing training, and developing projects. Feed Design Lab is unique in this – nowhere else in Europe do research, training and trial-feed production all take place within the same institute. They also regularly organise information meetings on current topics, such as energy saving. This is not only useful, it is also an ideal time for us to make contacts with other companies in the industry.

Feed Design Lab suits Brandenburch very well. Because we pursue and achieve the same goal, pleasant and professional collaboration.

About extrusion

From plant-based raw material to high-quality animal feed

The extrusion process changes the structure of the raw material so that the animal’s digestive enzymes can penetrate the cells more easily. This allows the animal to digest the food better. We make complete feeds that contain everything the animal needs, or alternatively, individual components that are incorporated into another product or muesli.
